Food Finds

I am always on the hunt for healthy, affordable foods that free of my ever expanding list of ingredients to avoid.  I never purchase foods that include high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, bleached flour, dairy not free of rBGH, nitrites, food coloring or a myriad of preservatives and additives.  I do try to buy as much local and organic as we can afford.  You will notice that I list a lot of Whole Foods brand and Trader Joe’s brand item.  Their in-house products are really a good value.  If you are not near a Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s, check out your local grocery chain.  My local Shoprite has started carrying their own brand of organic foods.  I will keep adding to this list so check back often.  Here is my list of foods worth hunting down and trying.

Snacks

  • Edward & Sons Brown Rice Snaps (gluten-free)
  • Trader Joe’s Just a Handful Raw Almonds (1oz. portable bags)

  • Roland Organic Whole Grain Dijon
  • Trader Joe’s Olive Tapenade (refrigerator case)
  • Les Moulins Hahjoub Traditional Harissa Spread
  • Whole Foods 365 Organic Salsa (mild, medium, hot)
  • Trader Joe’s Organic Red Wine & Olive Oil Vinaigrette

Protein

  • Whole Foods Wild Caught Albacore Tuna
  • Trader Joe’s Wild Caught Smoked Salmon
  • Trader Joe’s Skinless, Boneless Sardines in Olive Oil
  • Applegate The Great Organic Uncured Beef Hot Dog (grass-fed)
